milkman leads my latest foray into Anthology
Do you still have milk delivered to your doorstep? I do - but I had to explain to the nice Swedish lady sitting next to me at the Everyman the other night the role of the milkman.
It was because I was clutching a milkbottle which was the prop for my latest tour in the Anthology series - Matthew David Scott's We Sing Faster in the CIty, starring Paul McCleary, Nicholas Shaw and Matti Houghton.
Interestingly, the lady from Stockholm was in Liverpool for a conference at the convention centre and had decided rather than forking out ã70 on a gala dinner she'd go to the theatre.
She told me she lived in Liverpool for a short time in 1972 - things have changed a bit since then I said!
I hope she enjoyed the tour (Eileen O'Brien's) that she was on, as I thoroughly enjoyed my latest trip which took in the cobbled backstreets behind Hope Street. And the great news was that, unlike the night before which for some reason had been very quiet, Tuesday evening was a sell-out.
I also bumped into someone who used to work at the Echo who was on the 'milkman' trip. I asked if he'd seen 'Tis Pity She's a Whore and he said he hadn't as I'd only given it 7.5 out of 10 and he always took notice of my reviews.
What a dilemma! I was pleased to hear him say that, but I felt I had to point out that 7.5 is 75% which if I achieved that in an exam at school I'd have been very pleased with.
Anyway, I have two more Anthology visits planned for next week so I hope the weather stays dry because I haven't done the graveyard shift as it were yet!

Catherine your 75% explanation has convinced me I shall be booking for Tis Pity next week
Cheers Brian
Maybe I need to explain to people who weren't party to the conversation that Brian and I had on the everyman's Anthology tour last week.
I'd asked him if he'd seen 'Tis Pity She's a Whore and he said he hadn't because he'd read my review and I'd given it 7.5/10.
My answer to that was that if you turn the mark into a percentage, then it's 75% (after all, 5/10 is average) and if I got that in an exam I'd be damned pleased.....
But not half as pleased as I am that Brian is now going to see the play! I hope you enjoy it and that others follow your lead.
See you at the next Anthology!!
