"Liverpool" night on the BBC on Saturday with RLPO and John Bishop

The Phil performed at the Royal Albert Hall on Monday evening, and I was there in what was my first live Prom.
The hall was heaving (as well as heave-ho-ing, the traditional shout from the crowd as the lid of the grand piano was raised) and the response from the audience was heart-warming.
In fact, I felt a little surge of pride for our boys and girls there on stage showing why the Phil is garnering more and more column inches.
It was a sweltering evening in London, in contrast to the biblical proportions of rain we've been having here, and I felt sorry for the poor players under the stage's bright lights.
We all quenched our thirst after the concert with a drink or two outside a nearby pub - until we were asked to vacate the street so the people in the (no doubt very, very expensive) mews houses surrounding it could get some sleep!
I am looking forward to watching the concert and seeing just how different the experience will be to being there live - particularly if I can get the maestro-cam to work on my temperamental digibox and hear the commentary on Petrenko's conducting.
Meanwhile John Bishop's star just keeps ascending. He's been recording his new show over the past few days in Manchester, and the first episode goes out on BBC1 this weekend.
I wonder if it has quite sunk in yet, this meteroric rise to comedy stardom? So many people are clamouring for a piece of him, which is obviously great for John and for Liverpool.
