melanie c to play mrs johnstone in blood brothers

I never got down to London to see Melanie C in Blood Brothers so this week's news she's going to repeat her Olivier-nominated appearance in Liverpool was greeted with a resounding "hurrah" on the Echo arts desk.
Particularly as it's the only place outside the West End that she'll be appearing in the role.

This summer and autumn are shaping up to be exciting on the theatrical front, with big musicals over the summer including the irresistible Spamalot! and Hairspray (with Liverpool double act Les Dennis and Michael Starke), plus the return of Willy Russell's Our Day Out at the Royal Court, then both Melanie and Kim Cattrall engaged in "homecoming" shows for the new season in October/November.
Keep an eye out because we'll be doing a lot more on Blood Brothers as we get closer to the time
