chaucer's canterbury tales and northern broadsides' clog dancing
I still can't remember which Canterbury Tale I did for my A levels - but it was a long time ago! I'm erring towards the Merchant's Tale because I'm sure if it had been the Miller's I would have remembered it!
Anyway, I enjoyed Northern Broasides' bawdy and energetic retelling of the Chaucer classic at the Playhouse, not least all the amazing and often beautiful music. And the cod-opera was hilarious.
But, and I'm sorry but there is one, the clogs! I KNOW clogs are very much "on trend" (urgh, I hate that phrase!) this spring. I KNOW they have become part of the Broadsides MO.
However, they are desperately irritating and rarely add anything to the plot. My controversial suggestion would be to take all the pairs of clogs in the Tyke troupe's cupboards and burn them with immediate effect.
Now, back to the swyving!
