Voices Across The Oceans at the Black-E

By Catherine Jones on Feb 22, 10 01:38 PM

Voices Across The Oceans come to The Black-E tomorrow.
The major international music collaboration is a touring a cappela theatrical production organised by The Centre for Music and Arts Technology (CMAT).

It brings together the inter-continental talents of Maureen Lilanda from Zambia, Nawal (Comoros/France) and Birmingham's Black Voices a cappella group.
Tonight's concert is the first of a number of musical performances the Great George Street-based Black-E has lined up for 2010 and will take place in the venue's new Main Space performance room.
Vocal workshops for adults and teenagers will also be conducted by the performers of Voices Across The Oceans from 2-3pm today.
The Black-E co-director Sally Morris said: "We're delighted to welcome Black voices to The Black-E again.
"It will be a privilege to have these internationally-renowned performers as our guests.
"The production is amazing and includes a female griot linking the music of the seven singers and their challenging and diverse music about universal peace.
"Occasional percussive rhythms will weave its way through the finest a cappella harmonies to celebrate the beauty of the human voice."
Voices Across The Oceans takes place at 8pm and tickets are £8 with £6 concessions, available from The Black-E, News From Nowhere in Bold Street or online at www.theblack-e.co.uk.
