leap 2010 and matthew bourne's swan lake

By Catherine Jones on Feb 24, 10 01:17 PM

I am so pleased for Karen Gallagher and the team from Merseyside Dance Initiative who are organising the Leap 2010 dance festival.
They used the first night of Matthew Bourne's Swan Lake (yes, the one I awarded only my FOURTH ever perfect 10 to) at the Empire to officially launch their year of dance.

There was a little reception before the show at which Matthew - on his first ever visit to Liverpool despite him just turning 50 - made a small speech in support of Leap and dance in general.
I do hope audiences flock to see Swan Lake while it's here. Monday night's gave the show a standing ovation and it was well deserved.
But I also hope they then decide to support some of Leap's other productions between now and the end of 2010. There is interesting work coming to lots of venues including the Unity, Playhouse, Floral Pavilion, Bluecoat, The Brindley and the Rose at Ormskirk during the year.
