john moores contemporary painting prize entry date extended
Artists have been given an extra weekend to put in their entries for this year's Johh Moores Contemporary Painting Prize.
The closing date has been extended from tomorrow to Monday at 5pm.
The winner will get a £25,000 cash prize and there are also four further prizes of £2,500 for the runners-up.
For the first time entrants can register online at www.liverpoolmuseums.org.uk/johnmoores so there's no excuse not to throw the artistic hat into the ring.
The judges this year include Liverpool's Ged Quinn who exhibited in John Moores 25 in 2008
He says: The competition has such an important pedigree that curators and cultural workers alike, look to it to determine what is going on in British painting.
"It galvanises attention to the medium of painting. Also it provides a crucial platform for artists to compete with their peers, vital to their ongoing development."
Winners will be announced in September at the Walker Art Gallery.
