bob golding is coming to liverpool playhouse in morecambe

He was nominated for an Olivier Award this week for Morecambe, so it's great news Bob Golding and the show about one half of Eric and Ern is coming to Liverpool.
I caught up with the actor on the phone and you can see the results in today's Echo.

He was as full of enthusiasm for his subject as you'd hope, and amazed at the reaction he's had since he first took the show to Edinburgh last summer.
Bob told me: "The affection for Eric out there is heartwarming to say the least and has opened so many memories and doors in people's minds that they haven't opened for a while.
"The reaction has been overwhelming.
"Half of it is the whole nostalgic thing of "oh God, I remember those days" and one lady came up to me after the show with tears in her eyes and said it really touched her, not necessarily because of the content of the play and who it was about, but what it reminded her of was sitting in the room with her grandmother and holding her hand watching the show.
"She said 'nan's not with us any more and I miss her, and seeing you do that show just rekindled all those memories'.
"And the other half is absolutely without a doubt is because this man had this unbelievable ability to connect with us and we've all got a crazy uncle or someone who can do the paper bag trick or make a coin disappear and reappear behind your ear, that was Eric in a nutshell really, he was always "on"."

You can catch Morecambe at the Playhouse from March 8-13. But if you can't wait that long, here's a little taste of what to expect.....
