dada awards and last chance to see resistance

By Catherine Jones on Dec 4, 09 09:31 AM

I attended the DaDa awards last night at the new Hilton and had a great time and lots of laughs.
Perhaps too many on our 'naughty' table where when asked to make a model out of card, pipe cleaners and feathers to signify disability created our version of comedian Mat Fraser's show at the Bluecoat last weekend.
I missed the performance but apparently it was eye-catching, not least for the fact Mat did much of it completely naked....

Anyway, as I said, last night was very enjoyable. I've been to several DaDa dinners over the years and they are always a great occasion, celebrating some really good work from artists over the year.
Talking of good work, if anyone out there hasn't seen Resistance, Liz Crow's installation, at the Contemporary Urban Centre yet, please go before it closes this weekend.
Resistance tells the story of the Nazi's cold-blooded and systematic murder of disabled people during the Second World War, and the resistance of many of their victims.
But it's not heavy, or preachy, or horribly worthy - it's a very powerful and moving piece that deserves to have as wide an audience as possible.
Catch it while you can because next year it's on its way to one of the most famous museums in the world - the Smithsonian in Washington DC.
