RLPO to go to Shanghai for the World Expo in 2010
They've been talking about it for months and now Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra bosses have confirmed the Phil IS going to Shanghai.
I understand it will be in October next year and will probably be tied in with at least one concert in Beijing too.
Vasily Petrenko will conduct one of the concerts and of course the Phil will be transporting a little bit of Beatles magic to our twin city with John Wilson conducting the popular John Lennon Songbook concert.
All very exciting and a very, very busy year of touring for the Phil in 2010. They're already spending a week in Switzerland in March and there is talk of going to La Coruna in Spain in August to take part in a performance of Parsifal.
That northern Spanish tour is also likely to involve dates in places like San Sebastian and Santiago de Compostela.
Then there's the Phil's 2010 appearance at the 2010 Proms at the Albert Hall next summer.
Phew!
