DadaFest opens in Liverpool

By Catherine Jones on Nov 17, 09 11:00 AM

The UK's leading deaf and disabled arts festival - DaDaFest - opens today and is promising a cornucopia of events across the city.
The annual event includes an awards ceremony at the new Hilton Hotel next month, and, encouragingly, an awards and showcase evening for young disabled artists too.

One of the major events at the festival is the premiere of artist Liz Crow's Resistance work at the Contemporary Urban Centre.
Liz was the one who went on the Fourth Plinth in Trafalgar Square in here wheelchair dressed as a Nazi to highlight the mass murder of disabled people during World War II.
Hard-hitting stuff.
I hold my hand up to a personal interest in this particular work as Liz is also my cousin! And this afternoon I get to meet her for the first time in about 35 years.......
