tango fire give me a lesson in argentine tango

By Catherine Jones on Sep 14, 09 10:33 AM

It takes two to tango - and you really do need to get on with your dance partner as I discovered when the Tango Fire! crew gave me a dance lesson on Friday.
I don't know if anyone saw my efforts in Saturday's Echo but if you go on the liverpool echo website there's even a video of my lesson.....

Ines and Mauricio, who are two of the professional dancers in the show, took me through my paces in the grand foyer bar at the Philharmonic Hall.
With all the chairs and tables moved to one side it's a brilliant space. I can imagine afternoon tea dances with cake in there!
The dance couple, who are married, showed me two sets of eight basic steps and then Mauricio took me for a spin around the floor.
He was a man of few (English) words but everytime I got it right I got a "muy bueno"! Actually, I really, really enjoyed it and if I had more spare time, I'd jump at the chance to learn more - particularly the tricky looking kicks and flicks.
In the meantime, anyone who wants to see how easy it is (well, it must be if I mastered it) should have a look here...
