hairspray at the liverpool empire
When I interviewed Michael Ball a few weeks ago he enthused about Hairspray being some of the best times of his life, and in fact he'd already extended his West End run by three months.
Now news today that he can't quite let go and is bringing the show on its first UK tour next year as associate producer and part-time performer.
Sadly though, the man who took to Edna Turnblad's high heels but not her heavy prosthetic chest - and won an Olivier Award for his performance, is only appearing in a few of the shows - and Liverpool isn't on the list.
Manchester is however. Grrr!
Booking for Hairspray opens today - exactly 12 months before the show opens at the Empire theatre for a two week run.
A year is a long time iaway, even if showbiz diaries DO get booked up. So I'd like to ask Michael to find a window in his schedule, reconsider and wriggle into that frock and wig and heels and chest for Liverpool audiences too......
