what's on in liverpool july 25-31

By Catherine Jones on Jul 24, 09 08:45 AM

We're into the final few days of the Summer Pops and open air music also comes to the Pier Head next week.
The Music of the Waterfront event is free and runs from Friday to Sunday next weekend with the RLPO being joined by the "rightful owners of the song" who were such a success during Capital of Culture year.

The "rightful owners" are pub and club singers and it's a unique experience to see them perform at the front of a symphony orchestra.
Incidently, the RLPO will be flexing its open air muscles at Southport tomorrow night in a concert at Victoria Park which may JUST be blessed by dry weather.....
Pops-wise, tomorrow is the turn of Simply Red at the Arena and the Lotus Eaters at the Philharmonic Hall. The hall also plays host to the Lightning Seeds on Sunday - catch Jade Wright's review in Monday's Echo.
Next week brings Gloria Estefan on Monday evening, Rhydian and Only Men Aloud on Thursday, and Pops faves Deacon Blue on Friday. Not forgetting Australian Pink Floyd's book-ending appearance the next evening.
Elsewhere, Brick Up continues at the Royal Court, Scoobie Doo is at the Empire this weekend, and the Four Corners exhibition runs at the Bluecoat until July 29.
There are also ongoing exhibitions of Cecil Beaton's photographs and early 20th century paintings at the Walker, Colour Chart at the Tate, and a new show Trafficked opening at the International Slavery Museum.
