the "L" words

Posted by Catherine Jones on November 20, 2008 5:23 PM |

The air is full of the "L" word.
No, not love, but legacy.
Actually, there's also look as in look back at the year as well.
Where have the months gone? And why, with five weeks left of 2008 does it feel like Capital of Culture is already coming to a close?
Probably because of the L word, which is now being bandied about with abandon.

How did we do? And were do we go from here?
I was standing, for the second time in a week, inside the new Museum of Liverpool asking just those questions of Sir Jeremy Isaacs earlier.
Cast your minds back all those years ago, and it was Sir Jeremy and the Capital of Culture judging panel who decided to choose Liverpool for the title over the likes of Newcastle/Gateshead and Birmingham.
So has the year panned out as he imagined? Is he pleased? What happens next?
You'll be able to read the answers to some or all of these questions in tomorrow's Echo.
And soon we'll be asking our readers what they think. Have you enjoyed Liverpool's year in the spotlight? Is there anything else we could or should have done? What was your particular highlight (assuming you have one)? And where do you think we should go from here?
I have my own ideas, and the council has theirs, but I'd love to know what others think - so please, feel free to drop me a line
