mathew street festival

Posted by Catherine Jones on August 25, 2008 5:22 PM |

The streets are awash with cans, bottles and bags now - but that's always the sign of a fantastic Mathew Street Festival.
I've just returned from my second singalong of the day.
First I felt impelled (!) to join the 3,000 firefighters down at the Kings Dock for their rendition of Hey Jude.
Now I've been off to see the marvellous God Save the Queen at the Tunnel Stage.
Although really it should be named the William Brown Street stage.

It's been a great, if exhausting, two days of music. A real hard day's night.
Now what about 2009? Surely they have got to build on this.....
I know that "impact studies" will have to be done. I know it costs a lot of money. But look at the people it brings into the city, look at the happy atmosphere and the great publicity for Liverpool.
To me it's a no brainer.
