After three years and not a little agonising, we're almost there.
The Sheppard-Worlock statue, commissioned by the ECHO and paid for by the generosity of so many people both in and outside Liverpool, will be unveiled on Sunday.
Anyone who ventures down Hope Street today will probably see the sculptor, Stephen Broadbent, working on its installation.
It seems to be generating quite a bit of interest among passers by, and I'm pleased to say 99% of the reaction appears to be positive which is a great relief.
Stephen has worked so hard on the design and I believe it is indeed a fitting tribute to two very good men.
I stopped for a few minutes on the way to the Philharmonic (Hall, not pub!) last night and spoke to people who were examining the statue.
Two of them happened to be Jayne Casey and Pete Wylie, who I discovered admiring Stephen's craftsmanship.
Although Pete also admired my glasses which he claimed matched the colour of my hair!!! Not intentional I hasten to add.
Anyway, the statue will be dedicated and a ribbon cut during the Walk of Witness on Sunday afternoon, probably at around 3.45pm.
Everyone is welcome to join us in our celebration.
