hard night's night

Caipirinhas on a school night?
Oh go on then!
I went to the Hard Day's Night Hotel opening bash last night where the Moet flowed and the Mersey Beatles played.
Obviously sitting on the number 82 bus clutching my invitation wasn't exactly the dream red carpet arrival I'd have liked, but it got me there.
There were a real mixture of people in the place, from old Mersey Beat stars to Anthony Hannah on crutches.
He told me: "If I'd known I was going to be papped (ie photographed) I'd have decorated them."

The make-up wearing teen singer admitted he'd hurt himself falling down the stairs in Top Man!
I didn't realise shopping was such a dangerous occupation.
Liz McClarnon was also there with her brother - last week when I saw her she was suffering with terrible toothache and was racing between a smoke-free event in Liverpool and the Brit Awards in London.
She said she was kept going that night by painkillers and champagne, although I wouldn't advocate it at home, and slumped into bed at midnight.

Liz was obviously feeling better last night after some root canal work and the last time I saw her she was on the dancefloor twisting and shouting to the band.
I also spotted Andy McCluskey from OMD, Tony Crane from the Mersey Beats and producer Colin McKeown amid the crowds in the main reception area, while council leader Warren Bradley also made an appearance with his family.
Shannon the artist, who has created the images in each bedroom, had flown over from LA to be at the event, Beatles photographer Bill Zygmant (who has a function room named after him) and his wife were there, and John Lennon's sister Julia Baird was also in attendance.

Julia was saying she's had some interest from film producers to turn her book Imagine This into a movie, and how if it happened she'd love Cate Blanchett, who she admires as an actress, to play her mother.
It is obviously a bonus the Aussie actress is a redhead, as was Julia Lennon.
Watch this space.
Anyway, after last night the Hard Days Night Hotel is now well and truly christened.
