So artist Taro Chiezo wants his Superlambanana back.
Apparently we've only had Lamby on loan and now the man who dreamed it up wants to flog it on - possibly even down the M62 to Manchester.
OH COME ON.
No, really, you've got to be kidding!

(the sun could be setting on Superlambanana in Liverpool)
Superlambanana may have been designed by Mr Chiezo, but it was built right here in Liverpool and Liverpool is most definitely Lamby's home.
It's like toppling the Angel of the North on to a few low loaders and moving it to Southampton.
The argument is the sculpture was only ever on loan for 10 years.
But it would be nice to let a little commonsense prevail here.
2008 isn't just another year, it's European Capital of Culture year, and it's a shame Mr Chiezo and his representatives did not decide in a spirit of artistic glasnost to leave this row (because sure as eggs are eggs there will be one) alone at least until December 31.
Of course, Superlambanana is in the spotlight at the moment with the Go!Superlambananas project looking to place 100 replicas around the city - they say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery but I suspect taking your banana and going home isn't the reaction they were hoping for.
The next question is how much is he asking?
Liverpool city council is hardly flush at the moment as it is without being pressured to find what I suspect will be many thousands of pounds.
I understand when it was first built it cost £35,000. Who paid for that? Has Liverpool been "renting" the sculpture ever since, or has it simply (in government parlance) been given leave to remain.
You either love or hate Superlambanana. I am firmly in the first camp and I think it would be deeply depressing to lose it.
But I'm also a realist, and I don't think we should be held to ransome in a keeping-it-at-any-cost campaign.
I hope any suggested sale sum is fair. I hope it is achievable. I hope we win the day.
Otherswise we'll simply have say OK, you hire a lorry and you take it away.
