sparkle

I popped into FACT last night to say hello to the stars of Sparkle, the new Liverpool-filmed Brit flick which hits the cinema screens next week.
Leading man Shaun Evans is from Walton, so of course the trip to Wood Street was a bit of a homecoming for him although the screening was so full he couldn't even wangle his family a seat.

He told me that when he was filming in the city he tended to pop round to his auntie's with a bag of washing!
Actually, co-star Amanda Ryan let that one slip, but since they aren't "starry" enough to have a publicist baby sitter yet, we simply had a good giggle about it and moved on to talk about the benefits of being able to take coffee and walnut cake into the Picturehouse cinemas.
Sparkle also stars Stockard Channing, who has a fling with Evans' Liverpudlian character.
It made me feel old when I realised that when I pestered my mum to take me to see Grease back in the late 1970s, Rizzo's current co-star hadn't even been born.
