dock-tastic

Posted by Catherine Jones on July 26, 2007 4:50 PM |

So, what do you think about the grand scheme to drain the dock dry and party inside it?
It's certainly ambitious and if it comes off it could be rather spectacular.

An empty Salthouse dock would be a huge amphitheatre, and the idea of making the stage appear to be floating on water would be pretty memorable.
But as the Culture Company has been at pains to point out, there is still a lot of negotiating to be done before the plan becomes a reality.
Still, I'm willing to believe it will happen in some shape or form.
I was planning a holiday for next May (trying to fit time off in Capital of Culture year is an almighty headache) but now I'm having to re-think - until I know the exact date of the Liverpool Sound concert.
Actually, my birthday is on the last Saturday of May next year...I can think of worse ways to party, so who knows?!
The next question, apart from can they do it logistically, is who is going to play?
Still no news from the McCartney camp. Apparently Sir Paul isn't big on planning too far ahead, but surely he's got to decide soon on what he's going to do during Capital of Culture.
Meanwhile I'll just keep on calling his PR guy - we're almost on Christmas card terms these days, and I joked to a colleague today that we speak more often than I do with my own brother.
I don't know whether that says more about my job or family!
