I've been meaning to write about Simon O'Brien all week.
Well, I suppose I HAVE written about him, but they were all news stories about his sudden demise as Radio Merseyside's breakfast show presenter.
As he pointed out to me on the phone when I caught up with him, it did mean he got his first lie in in several months.
But his departure has split opinion and our own straw poll on the Echo website came back with three out of four people backing him.
A lot of presenters and journalists will have thought 'there but for the grace of God'.
Should he have gone? Should he have held on?
Alas for Simon, his on-air howler was something of a double whammy. Not only did he use the 'F' word. Twice. But he also crucially compromised the BBC's tenet of impartiality.
Aha, people cried, but they're always swearing on Radio Four and in the Guardian, and the impartiality of the likes of Jeremy Paxman can often be called into question.
But the truth of the matter is, the further removed from your pubic you are, the more you can get away with.
The national newspapers may be able to pepper their prose with profanities, but the Echo can't. And equally - and yes, unfairly - a national broadcaster can get away with a lot more than a local presenter.
Simon admitted he was the author of his own misfortune. He won't make that mistake again. But he's also got a few irons in the fire, and the spurned actor's ability to bounce back from rejection, so don't feel too bad for him.
Think of those lie-ins he's now enjoying.
