June 2007 Archives
I've been meaning to write about Simon O'Brien all week.
Well, I suppose I HAVE written about him, but they were all news stories about his sudden demise as Radio Merseyside's breakfast show presenter.
I was at the Daily Post business awards last night at St George's Hall.
And the general concensus was how stunning the building looked.
A retrospective exhibition of the work of Sgt Pepper artist Sir Peter Blake opens at the Tate on Friday.
And I was lucky enough to get a sneak preview this morning.
In fact, it was such a sneak preview that they were still putting works on the wall down at the Albert Dock.
Some of you may be aware that every week the Echo has been doing a 'birthday' story to mark Liverpool's 800 centuries.
From the middle of next month the frequency will be upped from one a week to one a day.
And that's where I need a little help!
So farewell to another Liverpool Comedy Festival, waved off last night with the now customary Best of Liverpool night.
This year the evening was held at the Royal Court rather than its usual home the Philharmonic Hall.
The row from Joe Anderson jumping ship from the culture board rumbles on with the world and his wife getting involved to back one side or another.
Today the 'Magnificent Seven' culture bodies have put out a supportive statement backing Capital of Culture planning, coming on the back of George Howarth and the all party parliamentary group yesterday.
Northwest Vision has announced the shortlist for its new Digital Departures micro-budget film-making initiative.
Not the snappiest explanation of what essentially is giving people the chance to make a movie on a shoestring budget.
Well, £250,000 a film isn't to be sniffed at of course, but it's not going to make you Pirates of the Caribbean 4 (although that's probably a good thing - Johnny Depp is....Jack Scally).
Good to see one of our Stop the Rot properties being captured for posterity - even if it does look a bit of a mess.
What is happening down at Millennium House?
It's only Wednesday and the Culture Company has seen two resignations so far this week.
That's almost one per day.
You nip off for a holiday and all hell breaks loose.
Or at least, the proverbial heads in the direction of the fan at some speed.
