May 2007 Archives
I left the Reds to it last night and joined the red-haired brigade instead.
Specifically the auburn tinted Dame Vivienne Westwood at St George's Hall.
I was at Tessa Jowell's speech in St George's Hall yesterday.
Me, and a room full of arts folk who weren't entirely sure why they were all there but seemed slightly disgruntled to be kept waiting for an hour or more in their busy day.
Response to my story about artefacts discovered on the site of the new Pier Head canal link has come from Councillor Frank Doran.
I reported that archaeologists thought carved chunks of sandstone used as a makeshift barrier under ground in front of the Three Graces may have come from an early liverpool town hall.
Remember Chavasse Park?
Apart from the fact it was an easy cut through from the centre of town to the Albert Dock, it was a nice green spot to sit out on with a paper or an icecream from the van at the bottom of the slope.
It was also one of the venues for the Mathew Street Festival outdoor stages.
Saturday morning and time to do something cultural.
I keep meaning to go on a city walk and never quite round to it.
Until now that is.
Well, I'd rather like to say I don't remember much about Friday night.
But remarkably for me, the thought of a red wine hangover meant I was rather restrained.
And there were still plently of people gossiping in the Crowne Plaza bar when I left some time after 1am.

It's the Scouseology Awards tonight.
And this year, which is the 19th annual awards, your's truly is one of the judges.
A colleague of mine was chatting to Michael O'Leary the shy and retiring head of Ryanair yesterday.
While he was plugging his no frills, no bags please airline, he also had a thing or two to say about Capital of Culture.
Apparently Michael isn't expecting a rush of bums on seats next year for Capital of Culture.
It was all a bit tame really - no grubby beds or liver birds pickled in pink gin.
The Tate Liverpool announced the shortlist for the 'controversial' (I bet someone wished they had trademarked that word) contemporary Turner Prize today.
The artists are, as someone pointed out, quite a political lot. But this needn't be a bad thing.
January is always a bit of a dull month so hurrah for the news of a new Winter Pops week.
And hurrah that there won't be a row over it being subsidised as both the ACC (kings dock arena to you and me) and CMP (organisers of the Summer Pops) have promised they won't need a council handout to make it work.
