Taking a turn on the Minton floor at St George's Hall

I had a twirl on the Minton floor at St George's Hall this morning.
They have taken the wooden coverings off and are giving it a good clean in advance of the reopening on April 23.

There will be barriers to prevent anyone walking on the 30,000 Minton tiles when the hall is opened to the public from the afternoon of St George's Day.
So I took the opportunity to have a look close up at the detailed design and pattern.
This is the spectacular view of the Minton floor at St George's Hall

There is still a lot of work to be done to get the place finished for the opening in 10 days. Workmen tell me they have been doing 12 hour days, although they will get Sunday off before the final push next week.
They are also putting a new sculpture of St George and the Dragon in place in the newly refurbished south end of the hall, with the ornate door on the south portico opened for the first time in at least 20 or 30 years.
Although the opening ceremony is a 'closed' event, the hall will be opened up to the public from 4pm on April 23.
The Minton floor will then be on view every day until Sunday, April 29.
