December 2006 Archives
Someone emailed me this week and signed off (in hope over expectation I fear) "here's to a rot-free 2007!"
They were alluding to the Stop the Rot campaign which I've run since I joined the Echo four years ago.
Today we unveiled the design of a commemorative coin being cast to mark Liverpool's 800th birthday.
It is the latest in a line of medallions to be created for city anniversaries, following on the heels of coins for the 700th and 750th birthdays in 1907 and 1957 respectively.
A few years ago there was many a red-faced titter after Bill Bryson (OBE) described his visit to Liverpool as coinciding with a 'festival of litter'.
The Culture Company went as far as to hold its own festival of litter to try and persuade people to tidy up the city.
I went to see how work on the Sheppard-Worlock statue was going this week.
Plans are now progressing for Liverpool's 800th birthday.
But wither the artistic programme?
STARRY names, a table of awards and 300 excited guests.
DaDaFest continues to grow and grow, and the awards ceremony I went to at the Crowne Plaza on Thursday night confirmed what a lot of talent there is out there.
